Description

More than just a train ride

Visit on a Running Day to view the collection of locomotives, coaches, wagons and buildings, explore the Centre at your leisure, visit the GWR Museum & Archive, enjoy the train themed children’s Play Park and dress up as a railway worker. You can also:

– Ride in coaches from the 1930s behind a Great Western steam engine or a diesel locomotive, or in the Steam Railmotor or Diesel Railcar. There are two running lines, ‘The Main Demonstration Line’ and ‘The Branch Line’ with trains normally running on either or both of them. You may ride as many times as you like as there is no extra charge.

– Watch the trains go past. There are frequent journeys on the running lines so you will have plenty of opportunity to take photos from vantage points alongside the tracks as well as ride on the trains

Enjoy hot and cold food in the café and visit the souvenir shop.

Didcot Parkway Station is 20 minutes from Oxford and 40 minutes from London Paddington. A convenient, and a great day out.
