What you will learn
Exploring Oxford as the backdrop to these television series, you will be reminded of several of the episodes and story lines, and also learn what these iconic buildings are famous for historically speaking. You don’t even have to be a Morse fan to enjoy this tour – there is plenty of interesting background information in the original novels by Colin Dexter about how the University operates, with its students and academics living in colleges to this day.
Your knowledgeable guide will be an enthusiastic fan of Morse and Lewis fan – Each Inspector Morse and Lewis tour of Oxford is unique, with your guide taking you on their own journey weaving individual stories and locations along the way. With over 150 hours of Inspector Morse alone to discover – you will want to come back for more!
‘I love meeting people from all over the world, particularly the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour fans. We are always discovering new secrets together!’
The tour will include a visit to one of the Oxford Colleges (subject to opening hours and availability). Why not stop at either The Buttery on Broad St (where Lewis and Hathaway used to have coffee) or the Morse Bar at the Randolph, before or after your tour!
You can book in person on the day, but as these tours do sell out quite quickly, we do advise you book tickets in advance, either by phone on 01865 686 441 or here online. (If you think you might be delayed, please book for a later tour as we are unable to contact the guide once the tour has departed).
Tickets are limited to 19 to ensure that you have a pleasant experience and can ask your Guide questions as you walk around with them. (Your ticket entitles you to 10% discount off on all merchandise in our shop).
Your tour will cover 1.5 – 2 miles walking (stopping every so often to admire the architecture and learn about the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour filming locations throughout the City) and not travelling further than a 10/15 minute walk away from the City centre and Visitor Information Centre.
The City centre is very flat and walkable – however, some of the most ancient colleges do have steps. If you have any mobility difficulties, please let us know in advance by phone on 01865 686 441 or email firstname.lastname@example.org before you book, so that we can arrange with the guide ahead of the tour how to best accommodate you.
We highly recommend that you use the Park and Ride service. The nearest Park and Ride location will be signposted on your entry route to Oxford and the buses leave every few minutes for the City Centre – please allow at least 20 mins for the journey and ask for the nearest stop to the Visitor Information Centre in Broad St. For more information, please see https://www.oxford.gov.uk/parking.
