Announcing the Oxfordshire Artweeks Christmas Season 2018

Oct 23 2018

More than 100 artists and designer-makers are preparing for 57 Christmas fairs, pop-up exhibitions and studio events throughout November and December (10th Nov – 9th Dec) as Oxfordshire Artweeks presents its ‘runaway’ Christmas Season at interesting venues across the county.

Jewellers, ceramicists, textile artists, painters and photographers, metal sculptors, wood turners, stone carvers, print-makers and glass artists will be presenting seasonally-inspired art and crafts to the public for free, and they’re the perfect places to pick up original quality handmade gifts for under the Christmas tree.

Among the unique offerings on show, you’ll find felted 3D polar animals and gilded calligraphy in Swerford; zen paintings to whet the palate alongside beautiful delicately quirky botanical illustrations in Chadlington; and colourful stained glass to illuminate your Christmas in Charlbury and Holton. Head to Dorchester-on-Thames for handmade jewellery and functional tableware that captures the waves in soft curves or find unusual embroidered pictures in two very different styles in both Dorchester and Eynsham.

The churches of St Nicolas in Abingdon, Magdalen Road in East Oxford and Holy Cross in Shipton-on-Cherwell are all boasting a wealth of interesting art and designer-made gifts and in Oxford, too, visit a set of professional artist studios in Edith Road or The Turrill Sculpture Garden in Summertown where you’ll find sculpture that won’t damage your wallet yet adds cheer to your garden. With print-makers’ studios open in Radley and Wallingford, ceramicists at work in King’s Sutton and Headington, and so much more, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste at Artweeks’ Christmas! Art aficionados and everyday enthusiasts alike are invited into dozens of houses and art spaces to delight in art and craft inspired by nature and local scenes, world travels and seasonal celebrations.
