What does it mean to be human in the age of intelligent machines?

In March, a small group of leaders from technology, academia, media, culture and policy gathered in Oxford for a day-long studio encounter convened by artist Es Devlin, the Institute for Ethics in AI, and Oxford Kilns.
Working side by side, their hands in earth and clay, they explored the ethical and creative questions raised by artificial intelligence — asking what remains uniquely human in the act of creation.
In this special Open House conversation, Es Devlin reflects on the ideas and provocations that emerged from that gathering, and considers how they have shaped Es Devlin and Nico Muhly: 360 Vessels – A Choral Installation that follows in the Great Hall of the Schwarzman Centre.
Part of Open House, a free festival day of performances and events open to everyone.
