This choral evensong will feature works by composers who lived, worked, or studied in Oxford, including the Service for Trebles by Thomas Weelkes – ‘one of the composers whose imagination is most evidently fired by the bold and vivid imagery of the age of Donne’ . It is possible that Sheppard’s Libera Nos was written while he was at Magdalen College, Oxford. Howell’s Te Deum (Collegium Regale) is ‘ one of the glories of the Anglican repertoire’.
