The natural world takes centre stage as Sam revives a tradition of connecting with the land through song, with roots throughout the British Isles. He tints his arrangements with influences ranging from gospel to electronic drones, to express “a mosaic of the emotions felt in my time outdoors.”
Sam also composes for film and television, undertakes work in the nonprofit sector to support environmentally sustainable music-making, and has released a novel “The Nightingale, notes on a songbird.”
He will be accompanied during his set by special guests Spafford Campbell.
Fiddle player Owen Spafford and guitarist Louis Campbell are about to release their reflective new album Tomorrow Held, blending post-rock, jazz, chamber classical, and folk. With ambient loops, processed fiddle, and experimental soundscapes, they will be touring the UK in September and October and will appear at WOMEX 2025 in Tampere, Finland, supported by PRS Foundation’s International Showcase Fund.
