Stonor Park Sparkle to Summer
August 1 @ 9:30 am - September 4 @ 5:30 pm£9 – £11
Stonor Park is putting the ‘sparkle’ into the children’s holidays this year, with the return of its summer event at the magical adventure playground Tumblestone Hollow.
Sparkle Bright will bring the playground’s mystical characters to life, with storytelling sessions on offer throughout the day, read from Tumblestone Hollow’s two children’s books The Legend of Tumblestone Hollow and The Moon Witch And The Thief – all held within the magically decorated setting of Stonor’s historic grounds.
With themed temporary tattoos also included in the ticket price, families can take the fun home with the story books, written by Amy Sparkes and illustrated by Steve Pearce, available to purchase at the Visitor’s Centre.
William Stonor, custodian of Stonor Park, said: “We’re delighted to bring back the Sparkle Bright event this summer. It went down extremely well with guests last year and provides a much-needed day out for families, especially those seeking fun, lots of adventure and delicious food.”
To fuel hungry families following a morning of fun, Tumblestone Hollow’s outdoor pizza eatery, The Rumble Hut, is serving authentic Italian pizzas with mouth-watering toppings, cooked in a wood-fire Gozney oven by Italian chef Salvatore. The menu includes Pepperoni, Napoli and other favourites and has gluten-free and vegan options, with handmade burgers, soft-whip ice cream and other refreshments also available.
Sitting harmoniously in Stonor’s parkland, Tumblestone Hollow adventure playground opened at Easter 2021. High level walkways, climbing nets, look-out decks, bridges and slides, all connected by a quirky, gnarled central tower which rumour has it, is home to a collection of mythical creatures who have made Tumblestone Hollow their home, in order to protect the magical powers of the ancient Glimmerstone, which could quite possibly reside amongst Stonor’s ancient standing stone circle.
“Sparking the imaginations of children and adding magic to their day is so important to us. The books we created with Amy and Steve play a big role within the playground, and we hope the storytellers and characters will add a special touch and create an immersive experience, in our much-loved playground,” said William.
The 850-year-old Stonor House and gardens will also be open on selected days in summer. Highlights include the Italianate Pleasure Garden, The Gothic Hall, 12th century chapel and dramatic long gallery, as well as the library which provides an overview of the 29 generations of Stonors who have lived at the great house.
Ticket prices for the Sparkle Bright event are £11 for children over 105cm, £9 for adults and children 93cm to 105cm, with children under 92cm going free.
The Sparkle Bright event is on from Monday 1st August to Sunday 4th September and tickets can be booked via the website: www.stonor.com/tumblestone-hollow/
