Taking The First Steps:An Introduction to forming a Community Co-Operative
September 28, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pmFree
This free of charge event is open to anyone living in a rural community in the UK who wants to find out more about community co-operatives, why they work and the next steps to take.
Whether you’re looking to save or open a shop, pub, woodland, renewable energy scheme, transport service, or anything else that your rural community needs, this event is a great way to find out more.
Workshops will run throughout the day that will introduce you to some of the key topics that are relevant as you explore your idea further such as sources of funding, finding the right legal structure for your group and the ongoing support available. You’ll also have the opportunity to hear first-hand from two groups who set up their own co-operatives so that you can be inspired by their stories and learn how they did it.
The team from the Plunkett Foundation will be on hand all day to answer your questions and to give you loads of information as you explore your idea further.
The event is taking place as part of the Rural Community Co-operatives project and is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. To find out more about the project please visit: www.plunkett.co.uk/rural-community-co-operatives.
