Head of Development and Membership

Sep 14 2023

Music at Oxford seeks a full-time Head of Development and Membership to join its small but dynamic team. Music at Oxford (MaO) is a concert series embracing a wide range of repertoire and genres to create an annual programme of performances with excellence at its core. They invite internationally renowned musicians to Oxford, and no two years are ever the same. Music at Oxford has been curating and presenting concerts in Oxford for 40 years: founded in 1983.

The Head of Development and Membership will be responsible for:
• developing and securing regular income streams in line with their ambitious fundraising targets
• formulating and implementing their fundraising strategy
• fostering and maintaining relationships with major donors and members
• effective management of their new development board
• researching and writing effective applications to trusts and foundations, businesses, and public funding bodies
• identifying and developing new funding opportunities

This new, full-time role has been created to help MaO at an exciting time of strategic development. The Head of Development and Membership will play a pivotal role in leading their fundraising strategy, developing and growing the supporter base, and building enduring relationships with key donors. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for MaO and a committed member of the team, living within an easily commutable distance for both regular team meetings in Oxford and regular donor meetings in Oxfordshire and beyond as required. The post-holder will work both from the MaO office, their home, and other Oxford sites as necessary, and will be present at all MaO concerts and fundraising events, plus other relevant events as required.

While the scope of this new role is wide, there will be marketing, reporting, and administrative support from within the team, and the post-holder will be able to make recommendations for further support as their successful tenure develops.

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus 5% employer pension contribution

Deadline: 9am on Monday 16th October 2023. Please note first interviews are likely to take place in the week beginning 23rd October 2023.
