Buttery & Wine Cellar Manager

University Salary Scale range: £30,502 pa – £37,474 pa (Grade 6.1 – Grade 7.4), dependent on knowledge and experience, plus college benefits

Applications are sought from experienced, reliable and friendly individuals (personal licence holder required, as will be the Designated Premises Supervisor) to be responsible for the management of a large wine cellar, the running of two college bars and the provision of beverages for various college events.  Must have an in-depth knowledge of wines and experience of buying en primeur, together with a proven record in staff management.  Excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as confidence in using IT, are pre-requisites, as is a willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, nights and weekends, to suit the needs of the college.  This is a full-time post working 40 hours per week.

 

Full-Time Chef de Partie

Salary: £27,131 pa, Grade 4.6, plus college benefits

An exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced professional to lead a section in the preparation of meals in part or in full to the highest standards, working with one of Oxford’s largest and busiest college kitchen brigades. Flexibility to work shifts on weekdays and weekends is essential. 40 hours per week.

 

Weekend Gate Porters

Friendly, confident and reliable individuals with excellent customer service skills required to join the Lodge team, working Saturdays and Sundays (6-7 hours per day). Duties include staffing the main gates and the reception and direction of visitors. Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Security experience is desirable.
  • Capability in the use of technology.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Confidence in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Opportunity to work additional hours, as and when required. An enhanced DBS check will be required for successful candidates. £10.50/hour plus usual College benefits.

Part-Time Scouts
(Christ Church & Iffley Road College Annexe)
Cleaners required to join hard-working housekeeping teams at both the main site and Iffley Road college annexe (Liddell Building). Would suit motivated, reliable individuals with high standards of cleaning. Usual shifts are Monday to Friday. Flexibility required to work extra hours during busy periods, including weekends or alternative start times in accordance with flexible rotas, to suit the needs of the college. Various shifts from 16.5 to 25 hours per week.
£10.50/hour plus discretionary bonus.

Part-Time Scout/Cleaning Supervisors
Motivated, reliable, well organised individuals with experience of housekeeping and team management are required to join hard-working housekeeping team. This role will involve some direct cleaning responsibilities in addition to a supervisory role, which includes room inspections, training staff and stock control. Must have the ability to set and deliver the highest possible standard of cleaning. 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work extra hours during busy periods (including some weekends), to suit the needs of the college.
£11.25/hour plus discretionary bonus.

Assistant Hall Manager
An efficient, well-motivated and confident person with the ability to organise and oversee the work of a large front of house team in carrying out catering services to the highest standard is required. The successful applicant would join a professional management team working in the College’s Great Hall and ancillary break-out areas. Experience within a similar working environment would be advantageous, and may suit someone wishing to progress within the catering services industry.
Salary £26,396 pa plus usual College benefits.

Casual Lodge Porters
Friendly, confident and reliable individuals with excellent customer service skills required to join the lodge teams. Duties include dealing with telephone enquiries, security, fire alarms, mail and the reception and direction of visitors. Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends, to suit the needs of the college, including varying start/finish times, is pre-requisite. £10.50/hour.

Gate Porters
Friendly, confident and reliable individuals with excellent customer service skills required to join the Lodge team. Duties include staffing the main gates and the reception and direction of visitors. Part-time, full-time and casual opportunities available.
£10.50/hour plus usual College benefits.

Senior Hall Assistant
Salary £24,948 pa (Grade 3.8*) plus usual College benefits
Applications are sought from personable, confident and highly-motivated individuals with excellent communication skills to join the Hall team. Experience in a supervisory/team leadership role and food service skills are essential. 40 hours per week. Christ Church has a thriving conference business so total flexibility is required to meet the demands of this business, including evenings and weekends.

Weekend Scout/Cleaner (Maternity Cover)
Christ Church are seeking a Weekend Scout to provide maternity cover, working in their Visitor Centre, located in the beautiful meadows of Christ Church. Would suit a motivated, reliable individual with high standards of cleaning. 10 hours per week, working Saturday and Sunday. £10.50/hour.

Full-Time Night Porter (or Part-Time Job Share)
Applications are sought from personable, confident and reliable individuals with excellent customer service skills to deal with telephone enquiries, security, fire alarms, mail and the reception and direction of visitors. Training will be provided. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the postholder. Shift pattern of 3 on 3 off (42.11 hours per week). Flexibility to work additional hours when required is essential.
Part-time job share work will be considered. Shift pattern of 3 on 3 off, working 21.05 hours per week (shifts: 19.00 – 01.00 and 01.00 – 07.00).

University Scale Grade 4: £24,948 – £26,396 pa (pro rata for part-time position)
