Eccentric Oxford Tour with Richard O. Smith

To book this brand new and hilariously uplifting tour, please redirect to our booking page! Only running this August, this is an experience not to be missed!

Laugh while you learn all about Oxford’s quirky traditions, rules, duels and riots, and how all of Britain’s great universities (plus Cambridge!) originated from Oxford’s pioneering model.

Find out all about Oxford’s eccentrics – the explorers, pranksters, poets, prime ministers, pioneers, novelists, scientists, duellers, criminals and politicians who have studied or lived here (there is some inevitable cross-over within the last two categories!)

See the greatest sights of Oxford in a completely new light! With a professional and very knowledgeable comedian as your Guide. Take advantage of the quiet streets as a once in a life time experience.

Great fun for young and old alike – you do need quite good English however to keep up with all the jokes!!

Richard O. Smith is a contributor to several BBC Radio 4 comedies including The Now Show and The News Quiz. His books, described as the funniest ever written about Oxford by Countdown’s Susie Dent, include Oxford Examined: Town & Clown and The Best Ladled Pans of Rice and PenneOxford Student Pranks: A History of Mischief & Mayhem was appraised by TV historian Dr Lucy Worsley as “a jam-packed jamboree of jollity.” Oxford Z-A: 1000 Years of History in 26 Letters, illustrated throughout by Korky Paul, is published in September 2020.

As with all of our Oxford Official Walking Tours, this tour is VisitBritain accredited “We’reGoodToGo” with your safety at it’s heart, and numbers limited to 8 per tour.
