The FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival is a world-class event that takes place in the central university area of Oxford each year. Around 500 speakers and authors from all over the world give talks in historic university buildings on a range of subjects from the latest fiction to biography, the arts, heritage, history, science, travel, food and drink, the environment, current affairs, politics, and business. The festival includes a highly regarded children’s programme on two weekends.
The festival is organised around two central hubs at the Bodleian Library/Sheldonian Theatre and at Worcester College. A marquee between the Bodleian Library and the Sheldonian Theatre hosts a festival bookshop and a box office.
Speakers at this year’s festival include the Shakespearean actor Antony Sher, scientist Richard Dawkins, novelist Sebastian Barry, novelist and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz, veteran children’s writer Judith Kerr, biographer Claire Tomalin, Children’s Laureate Lauren Child, celebrity chef Rick Stein and former Home Secretary Alan Johnson.
