GULLIVER’S GUIDES is a specialist tour-guiding business, based in Oxford. Founder Tony Gulliver is a is a qualified Blue Badge driver-guide, running tours in the Heart of England and beyond – to the Cotswolds, Stratford, Bath and Stonehenge, as well as Windsor, the Wye Valley and Shropshire. He also happens to be a descendant of the Banbury Gullivers, whose tombs in St Mary’s churchyard inspired Jonathan Swift to a name for the protagonist of Gulliver’s Travels back in the early 18th century. So why not embark on your own journey of discovery!


With GULLIVER’S GUIDES you can drop in on Shakespeare’s birthplace; visit ancient sites like Stonehenge, Avebury and Viroconium; and see landscapes that inspired authors and composers such as Tolkien and Elgar. Marvel at one of the world’s most famous prehistoric sites, just a 90-minute drive from Oxford. You can be there and back in 4–5 hours. Or make a whole day out of it, combining your visit with a trip to nearby Bath, another World Heritage Site, as well as the amazing stone circles and prehistoric landscape of Avebury on the way home! Or to nearby Salisbury and its awesome cathedral with the tallest church spire in the country.


Airport pick-up

GULLIVER’S GUIDES can collect you from the airport (Heathrow or Gatwick) and take you to Oxford or anywhere in the region. The journey can take in Windsor Castle and the Thames meadow at Runnymede where King John signed the Magna Carta. The route back to Oxford then takes us through the Chiltern Hills to Henley and Wallingford, the heart of Midsomer Murders country.
