Behind the public library in South Parade, Summertown, Oxford there is a large, sunny oasis, approximately 100ft by 60ft. In the year 2000, it was transformed from an empty and uninviting space into an attractive garden for the public to enjoy and it has gone from strength to strength from then on.

There are plenty of seats, a small fountain, grass for children to enjoy playing on gently and a wide variety of plants suitable for the site and soil, a reference garden to inspire your own ideas. You can sit and enjoy the peace or even have a picnic during Library hours which vary over the week.

There you can see a series of changing sculpture exhibitions throughout the year. We exhibit a wide range of sculpture from the work of school children right up to top national figures and even international exhibitors, all of which is for sale. The concept is to encourage the public to enjoy interacting with art in a natural setting and possibly choosing something to enhance their own gardens. It is also a showcase for local artists or for people from further afield. As a non-profit making venture for the public, the small commissions on sales and donations or membership fees help to keep this unique garden maintained.

Opening Hours

Library hours: Mon, Fri 9.30am – 5pm, Tues, Thurs 9.30am – 6.30pm, Sat 9 am – 4pm.
Sun & Weds – closed

The Turrill Christmas/Winter Selling Exhibition this year has a really good range of different styles and materials offered by a great group of small-scale sculptors aimed at an affordable price range for inspired gifts. Diccon Dadey's popular metal robin reappears in different guises to keep our Turrill robin company. Ceramics can be found as large pebbles by Harriet Coleridge, pots by Sally Dorrity and animals by Jill Collier and we have two glass artists to add to the sparkle in…
