On 11th July, Experience Oxfordshire Ambassadors gathered at the stunning Macdonald Randolph Hotel for their annual Ambassador dinner.

The Ambassadors Dinner

This was an opportunity for those businesses across the County that invest in and support the DMO to both network and find out about the work that Experience Oxfordshire have been undertaking as well as debating important issues.  Ambassadors from across the visitor economy sector and Oxfordshire’s business community welcomed guest of honour Anthony Pickles, Head of Tourism Affairs for VisitBritain / VisitEngland, who laid out the details behind the recently announced Sector Deal for Tourism, in his first public engagement on the subject since its announcement.  Mr Pickles answered questions from the assembled Ambassadors, and stressed the increasing importance of collaboration between public and private sector organisations – a collaboration which will be key to any subsequent bid for government investment in Oxfordshire ‘s visitor economy. He also commended Experience Oxfordshire’s proactive and positive engagement in the tourism sector deal process to date.

Jonathan Lowrey, the General Manager of the Macdonald Randolph Hotel, said of the event: We are delighted to again be the hosts of this prestigious dinner that has become an important event in the DMO calendar. It was a great opportunity to meet the other Ambassadors and explore areas of collaboration, and to learn more about the industrial strategy for our sector. We are extremley proud to be an Ambassador of Experience Oxfordshire and support the great work they undertake on behalf of the County.

Hayley Beer-Gamage, Chief Executive of Experience Oxfordshire commented,It was a fantastic evening and great to see our Ambassadors come together. The DMO simply wouldn’t exist without the support of this group of influential individuals and businesses and it was a great way to thank them and discuss future opportunities and challenges, particularly in light of the government’s new Tourism Sector Deal and we were delighted that Anthony Pickles could join us for the occasion and give our partners an exclusive opportunity to discuss this exciting new initiative for the industry. The setting was great and the team at the Macdonald Randolph Hotel did an outstanding job on the hospitality.”
