Join Ingram Murray for a special talk to accompany our Arnhem 82nd Anniversary exhibition.

With a focus on the ‘Market’ side of Operation Market Garden, Ingram will detail the wider role of the British 1st Airborne Division in the ill-fated campaign, and profile a few key personalities amongst the men at Arnhem.

Famed for their part in earlier airborne operations during D-Day, 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, didn’t go to Arnhem – but many of the officers and men 1st Airborne had come to the Parachute Regiment from the Oxf & Bucks. They included the division’s Defence Platoon, VC-winner John Grayburn, Major Digby Tatham-Warter, and many more.

Ingram Murray

Lt. Col. (Retd) Ingram Murray has long been a volunteer and researcher at Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, and was formerly an officer serving with the Royal Engineers, including command of 131st Independent Parachute Engineer Squadron.

Father to comedian and military historian Al Murray, he has made appearances on the We Have Ways of Making You Talk podcast and the We Have Ways Fest history festival, where he’s affectionately known as ‘The Colonel’.
