Create a Summer Posey and Buttonhole otherwise known as a traditional Tussie Mussie
Sat 18 Jul, 10:15 - 13:15

Fletcher's House, Woodstock

Join experienced florist Sandra Green at the Oxfordshire Museum to create a Summer Posey and buttonhole otherwise known as a Tussie Mussie. A Tussie-mussie or nosegay is a compact posy of flowers and herbs some of which are usually scented. It dates back to 15th century but was also popular in Victorian times. It serves to mask unpleasant odours, and also sometimes represent a secret romantic message. Sandra will guide you in constructing the posey and buttonhole using seasonal flowers, flower contents will vary depending on availability. Sandra will also discuss the language of flowers in the Victorian period and therefore their meaning when places in posies and buttonholes. Tea and coffee are included in the course price as are all floral materials and tuition. Ages 18+.
