What does it mean to be human in the age of intelligent machines?
This clay workshop series, conceptualised by visionary artist and designer – Bloomberg-Oxford Fellow Es Devlin, invites participants to hand-build clay vessels under the guidance of a creative facilitator at Hurst Street Studios.
The shared act of making provides a setting for participants to listen to recorded conversations by experts exploring the opportunities and threats to human creativity arising from the growth of artificial intelligence, and to respond through collective discussion.
Developed in collaboration with Oxford Kilns and the Institute for Ethics in AI, the workshops offer a collective act of making and reflection in a welcoming, artist-designed space.
Participants will not be able to take their vessels home, but all works created during the workshops will become part of Es Devlin and Nico Muhly: 360 Vessels – A Choral Installation, presented at the Open House free festival at the Schwarzman Centre on the 25 April 2026.
