The couple that tricks together, sticks together! Husband-and-wife magicians Alan and Kat Hudson bring their feel-good comedy magic show, Married at First Sleight, to The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury.

Alan and Kat appeared separately on Britain’s Got Talent before eventually joining forces as Hudson & Hudson. Alan went on to fool legendary Las Vegas magicians Penn and Teller on their television show Fool Us and starred in ITV’s The Next Great Magician. He is also a Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle.

Kat has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and Fool Us, performed in the West End magic production Wonderville and appeared on television shows around the world, including Italy’s Tu Si Que Vales.

When Alan and Kat appeared individually on Britain’s Got Talent, they had no intention of forming a double act. Ant and Dec asked whether they might perform together, but both said no. Dec suggested that was probably sensible, warning that in a double act, “one of you always ends up doing a lot of the heavy lifting”.

They eventually changed their minds, creating a show that combines astonishing magic, mind-reading and audience participation with stand-up, sketches and their conflicting versions of married life.

Some of their onstage banter is written, but the pair frequently go off script, particularly when Kat introduces details from their personal lives. The result is an unpredictable night of marriage, magic and mind-reading for date nights, mate nights and anyone who has ever argued over the remote.

Married at First Sleight comes to The Mill Arts Centre, Spiceball Park Road, Banbury, on Friday 25 September at 7.30pm.

The seated performance runs for approximately one hour and 40 minutes. Tickets cost £19.50.
