NUNEHAM COURTENAY: The house, the landscape and the village
Sat 27 Jun, 19:30 - 21:00

Join Professor Malcolm Airs for this illustrated talk to explore the history of Nuneham House and Park from its purchase by the Harcourt family in 1712 down to the present day. Nuneham Park and the village of Nuneham Courtenay are of national importance, and Malcolm’s lecture will highlight why.

Malcolm will explain its significance and cover the changes it has undergone over the centuries, along with some of the challenges it will face in the future. Particular attention will be paid to the house, the church of All Saints, the design of the surrounding landscape and the need to protect the planned uniformity of the transplanted village.
Refreshment will be available and copies of Professor Malcolm Airs and Geoffrey Tyack’s book on the subject will be available to purchase.
Funds from this talk will go towards repairs at All Saints’ church, including the church door, and to the restoration of the carpet used for the coronation of King Edward VII at Westminster Abbey, part of which runs the length of All Saints’ church.
