Sounds of the City is an exhibition of objects, memorabilia, and stories celebrating Oxford’s grassroots music scene in the 90s and beyond. The exhibition highlights iconic bands, gigs, grassroots venues, festivals, and independent record labels that all energetically shaped Oxford’s sound. The displays spotlight bands like Supergrass and Radiohead, but also brings to the fore stories about reggae soundsystems, carnival, folk traditions, women in music, LGBTQ+ nightlife, and community events. This museum late event is a unique opportunity to visit the museum after hours, experience the exhibition being brought to life, and to share your own sounds of the city. The event will kickstart an exciting events programme running at the Museum of Oxford until March 2027. This is a free drop-in event, but tickets are required. All are welcome!
