To celebrate 100 years since the publication of These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer: Be transported back to Eighteenth-Century Versailles, the ballrooms of London and Paris with the period music of Follia at the These Old Shades Ball hosted by Georgettes of Oxford celebrate 100 years of These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer, graciously supported by the Heyer Estate.
The ball will take place in the beautiful Medieval building of The Divinity School, part of The Bodleian; and is the oldest surviving purpose-built building of the University of Oxford; and you will dance to the live music of London’s Early Music ensemble Follia.
We will have a range from easy to intermediate level early to mid-Eighteenth-Century dances, for everyone to take part in, and dance the type of dances which Georgette Heyer’s characters could have danced. We will also have a Country and Baroque Dance Display.
