The Oxford Collection issues new Sustainability Statement

The Oxford Collection steps up its commitment to offer responsible hospitality experiences across its two five-star hotels and three restaurants in Oxford city centre.

Its brand-new Sustainability Statement reads: “We’re committed to running our hotels and restaurants in ways that benefit the local community, our staff and guests, Oxford’s heritage and the long-term sustainability of the planet.”

The independently-owned group has championed eco-friendly and socially responsible practices since opening its first restaurant and hotel in the 1980s. It is now quantifying these initiatives and forging a more sustainable blueprint within the tourism industry.

“Our hotels are open 365 days of the year, so it’s important we take every step we can to manage our environmental footprint. We’ve modernised both hotels, ensuring that they’re properly insulated, while LED lighting and movement sensors in the corridors reduce energy consumption. Our partners share our less-is-more philosophy. Our in-room bathroom products are in refillable and recyclable aluminium containers and craftspeople such as BenchmarkEpoc and Pietersen Fine Furniture provide us with bespoke furniture with a long lifespan.” – Rebecca Mofford, Director of Operations.

Measures to date include reducing the use of halogens by almost 100%, recycling used oil for biofuel, and offering unlimited use of bicycles at Old Bank Hotel and Old Parsonage Hotel so guests can explore Oxford by pedal power. Gees, Parsonage Grill and Quod also nurture conscientious relationships with regional suppliers wherever possible, making seasonal choices and minimising air miles.
