MAGNIFICAT! The Choral Foundations in Concert

MAGNIFICAT! The Choral Foundations in Concert
Sun 9 Nov, 19:30 - 20:50
Oxford Town Hall, Oxford
An evening celebrating magnificence with The Three Choral Foundations, opening with Handel’s Ode to St Cecilia – the patron saint of music – a work that was so popular that it was revived nine times for performances by Handel during his lifetime. Wonderful conversations between instruments follow in the unique orchestration of the ever-popular and colourful Brandenburg No 4, which will, tonight, be directed by Mark Williams from the harpsichord.
The evening will end with Bach’s gloriously grand Magnificat, with five soloists, a five-part choir, and – for the time – a large orchestra. Resplendence and jubilation marking ‘Magnificent Oxford 2025’.
