Housebuilder challenges UK families to go greener with sustainability competition

UK housebuilder Pye Homes has invited environmentally-aware households to take part in its annual Energy Saving Challenge, launched during National Energy Saving Week 2026.
Residents have until Friday 13th February to register their interest before receiving the challenge’s instructions, before it officially begins on 22nd February.
To take part, registered households need a smart meter and will simply need to monitor their energy consumption for two weeks from 22nd February, after which they will be encouraged to introduce new reduction measures. Their energy consumption will then be recorded for a further two weeks. The household that registers the biggest percentage drop in energy consumption will be the winner.
Before the challenge begins, expert tips and advice on how to improve consumption and ultimately save money will be provided. Entrants will also be in with a chance of winning an incredible prize bundle worth £400, as well as being named energy saving champions.
Pye Homes has a strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainability across its various housing developments, including its newest sustainable living project, Welborne Garden Village in Hampshire.
Welborne’s traditional building techniques and materials are combined with the very latest technology for modern living, creating a home fit for the future. This includes a state-of-the-art groundwater source energy network, which efficiently and economically heats and cools all homes, reducing a household’s carbon emissions by up to 50% compared to air source heat pumps and by up to 90% compared to traditional gas boilers.
The prize bundle features:
Shark NeverChange5 Air Purifier Compact Pro
Ninja CRISPi 4-in-1 Portable Glass Air Fryer
£100 online voucher for eco-conscious Peace With The Wild
To sign up for the Energy Saving Challenge, please email [email protected] by 13th February. You don’t have to live in a Pye Homes property to be eligible to enter.
