KIBOU Launches Calendar of Japanese Whisky and Sake Tasting Events
Award-winning KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar partners with The House of Suntory, Nikka and Akashi-Tai for intimate drinks experiences throughout 2026
KIBOU Oxford has announced a new calendar of Japanese whisky and sake tasting events running throughout 2026, developed in response to guest demand for more immersive food and drink experiences.The award-winning Japanese restaurant on Little Clarendon Street, Oxford will host curated tasting evenings in partnership with The House of Suntory, Nikka Whisky and Akashi-Tai Sake, bringing together expert-led tastings with carefully matched dishes in a relaxed, social setting.
Each event pairs guided tastings led by brand ambassadors with KIBOU’s signature sharing menu in the restaurant’s conservatory space.
“Guests have been asking for more experiential events that offer a deeper understanding of Japanese food and drink culture,” says Louis Squires, Head of Drinks at KIBOU. “These evenings explore the stories behind the spirits and sake we serve, in partnership with producers who have shaped Japan’s drinks landscape for over a century.”

- The House of Suntory Whisky Dinner – Thursday 26 February Five Suntory expressions including Yamazaki, Hakushu and Hibiki Japanese Harmony Conservatory |£45 per person
- Spring Sake with Akashi-Tai – Thursday 9 April Artisan sake tasting celebrating sakura season Conservatory |£45 per person
- Nikka Whisky Experience – Wednesday 10 September, Exploring expressions from Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, Conservatory |£45 per person
- October Sake Month – Thursday 15 October Month-long celebration of International Sake Day Conservatory | £45 per person
Event Details:
Each evening includes a welcome cocktail or drink, guided tasting and a multi-course Japanese menu. Tables may be shared to create an intimate, conversational atmosphere. Pre-booking essential due to limited capacity.
Featured brands will also appear on monthly drinks specials menus with bespoke cocktails, tasting flights and paired dishes available to all guests throughout their respective months.
