Oxford Health and Social Care student wins Student-Learner category at Oxfordshire Care Awards
A Health and Social Care student from City of Oxford College and University Centre has won the Student-Learner category in the Oxfordshire Care Awards 2025.
James Quick, who is studying a Health and Social Care Level 3 Extended Diploma at City of Oxford College and University Centre, collected his award at a special ceremony on Tuesday 6 May, held at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
The prestigious annual awards, which have taken place since 2016, celebrate the most outstanding people and organisations providing adult social care in the county.
Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers (OACP) hosts the awards, which are supported and recognised by Oxfordshire County Council.
The event brings together the very best unpaid carers, members of the community, voluntary sector, statutory and independent care providers.
The Student-Learner Award is a new category developed to recognise and promote young people coming into the sector, and those already working in it looking to further their career.
At the ceremony, the winner was accompanied by fellow Health and Social Care Level 3 student, Josh Harris, and T Level Health student, Lily Smythe, who were also shortlisted in the Learner – Student category of this year’s awards.
James Quick, Health and Social Care Level 3 Extended Diploma student at City of Oxford College and University Centre, said: “I felt shocked and surprised to be announced as the winner.
“It was a nice evening and great to see what everyone was nominated for and what they had done. I’d never been to Blenheim Palace either, so that was nice!”
Louise Mitchell, Health and Social Care Teacher at City of Oxford College and University Centre, said: “I cannot express how proud I am about James’ award. He has had an incredible educational journey, one I am sure he will share with others to inspire, encourage and benefit their lives.”
“As his teacher, this journey is purely reflective of James, one which demonstrates his compassion to others, motivation, integrity and resilience. We are very proud. Well done James!”
