Councillor Liz Leffman announced as Experience Oxfordshire Board Member

Experience Oxfordshire, the county’s destination management organisation (DMO) and Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), is delighted to announce that Councillor Liz Leffman has joined its Board as a Director and Trustee.

Councillor Leffman, Leader of Oxfordshire County Council since May 2021, was elected to West Oxfordshire District Council in 2012 and to the County Council in 2017. She represents Charlbury and Wychwood.

Stuart Crook, the recently appointed Chair of Experience Oxfordshire expressed his pleasure in having Councillor Leffman on the Board: “I am delighted that Councillor Liz Leffman has joined us as a Board Member and Trustee of Experience Oxfordshire.  She brings with her a wealth of knowledge gained from direct experience of working within the county’s commercial, community and political sectors. We will welcome her valuable contribution to shaping the organisation’s priorities in its work developing the local visitor economy for the benefit of all.”

Experience Oxfordshire works to grow the value of the visitor economy in Oxfordshire, collaborating with businesses, operators and key decision makers across the county. It has a growing network of partners and is supported by an influential group of Ambassadors. The organisation speaks on behalf of the visitor economy sector on local and national issues and is a trusted partner of VisitEngland, the national tourist board.

Commenting on her appointment, Councillor Leffman said: “Oxfordshire is world-renowned as a desirable destination for tourism, culture, business and education. The County Council’s Strategic Plan is designed to ensure everyone in Oxfordshire can take advantage of the opportunities our vibrant, diverse and innovative county has to offer. Complementing this objective, Experience Oxfordshire, through its work in the delivery of its Ambition Statement, has an important role to play in championing the visitor economy and developing it for the benefit of all, both residents and our visitors. I look forward to working with a talented group of Board members and Trustees to support the Experience Oxfordshire team in achieving their objectives which in turn will support a sustainable visitor economy.”

In addition to her service to local government for over 30 years, Councillor Leffman has operated an international business advising and assisting companies in the global textile and garment industry. She has been a trustee of her local Citizens’ Advice, a director of a local community owned solar farm and director of a charity building supported living accommodation for people with early onset dementia. She is also Chair of England’s Economic Heartland sub-national transport body.
