Visitor Experience Assistant

The Ashmolean Museum is looking for Visitor Experience Assistants to join the team welcoming visitors from across the world.

You will greet visitors, answer questions, support wayfinding, and help ensure everyone has an enjoyable and engaging visit. You will also encourage visitor giving and membership, and help maintain high standards across the museum.

You will work as part of a team on a rota, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the museum and assisting with safety procedures where required.
These are part-time, permanent posts with varying hours and shift patterns. All working patterns include Tuesdays and at least one weekend day per week, with some requiring both weekend days. In your supporting evidence form, please indicate your preferred working pattern(s).

• 21 hours per week / 0.58 FTE (3 posts)
• 24.5 hours per week / 0.67 FTE (2 posts)
• 15.75 hours per week / 0.43 FTE (1 post)

This role will involve some manual handling and lone working. Full training will be provided.

About You
You will be friendly, reliable and confident when working with a wide range of people. You will enjoy delivering good customer service and creating a welcoming environment for visitors.
You will be a team player who can work in a busy environment and use your initiative to respond to different situations. You will have good communication skills and take pride in maintaining high standards.
An interest in museums or culture would be beneficial. Experience in a customer-facing role or knowledge of another language would be an advantage.
